Good News: Bulldogs Commits Another Top-Notch Fans Favorite

In recent weeks, Georgia has become more interested in recruiting the in-state defensive line prospect.

Two key dates defined Josiah Victor’s summer.

The first was May 31, when he attended a camp at Georgia. During that end-of-May camp, he stood out as one of the top performers, impressing the coaching staff enough that defensive line coach Tray Scott extended him an offer shortly afterward. Following Georgia’s interest, other schools that had been recruiting Victor increased their efforts.

The second pivotal date was July 4, when the 6-foot-2, 297-pound defensive lineman committed to Boston College. The Eagles intensified their recruiting efforts after Georgia’s offer and informed Victor that he was their top target on the defensive line. However, once he committed, several SEC programs—Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, and Mississippi State—started to show even more interest.

Boston College is now working hard to retain Victor.

“The message from them is that I can come in and play early, which I really appreciate. They’ve told me I’m No. 1 on their board, and that means a lot to me,” Victor told Dawgs247. “But, of course, other schools are still pursuing me.”

Georgia, in particular, remains a significant factor in his decision.

Given his positive experience at the camp and the importance of the offer, Victor plans to visit Georgia this fall if possible. His relationship with Tray Scott has grown throughout the year, especially after the May 31 camp in Athens.

Scott’s emphasis on Victor has increased in recent weeks, particularly after Christian Garrett decommitted from the Bulldogs.

“Yes, other teams have been pushing harder, including Georgia. Ever since the decommitment, they’ve been more aggressive,” Victor said. “Things started picking up after that camp.”

Victor and Georgia have had open discussions about the role he could play in Athens.

“They view me as an undersized defensive lineman who can make an impact. They like my quickness, aggressiveness, and physicality. I feel like spring ball was where I really started to improve. They’ve seen my progress from last year to this year, and they believe I can come in and contribute,” Victor said. “I’ve always been an underdog, ever since I was young. There have always been bigger kids. Joseph Mbatchou, a Florida commit who’s 6-6, is a beast, but I’m starting, so I still feel like the underdog. It’s just a chip on my shoulder, but I believe I can play anywhere.”

When watching film, Victor studies Byron Young, Jalen Carter, and Aaron Donald—three excellent players to emulate as he projects to the 3-technique at the next level.
