INJURY REPORT: Good And Bad News Over Texas And Michigan key Players

Both Texas and Michigan had relatively clear injury reports going into their highly anticipated Week 2 game in Ann Arbor.

This season, injury reports for both the Big Ten and SEC conferences must be made public. However, the SEC will only require reports to be made public during SEC play, therefore Texas football is exempt this week.

Michigan injury report vs. Texas football in Week 2

No. 3 Texas, led by head coach Steve Sarkisian, will head to Ann Arbor this weekend to take on the defending National Champions, the No. 10-ranked Michigan Wolverines, at the Big House.

This matchup, marking the Longhorns’ first top-10 clash in over 15 years, will be the highlight of Week 2 in the college football season. Texas is aiming for a significant victory to bolster its College Football Playoff resume with a win over Michigan during this non-conference game.

According to last week’s injury report and recent updates from early this week, it appears that the Wolverines, under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore, might be missing some key players on both sides of the ball for their Week 2 matchup against Texas.

Rod Moore

Here are three critical injury updates for Michigan as they prepare for the top-10 showdown against Texas at the Big House in Ann Arbor on Sep. 7, with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CT.

Rod Moore, S (Knee)

Senior safety Rod Moore sustained an ACL tear during spring practice for the Wolverines. Moore was anticipated to play a significant role in Michigan’s secondary this fall after starting 11 games for the team last season.

Jack Tuttle, QB (Elbow)

Former Indiana transfer quarterback Jack Tuttle was competing for the starting quarterback position for the Wolverines during fall practice, alongside former walk-on Davis Warren and sophomore Alex Orji. However, Tuttle withdrew from the starting quarterback competition heading into Week 1 as he was rehabbing an elbow injury sustained during fall practice (according to 247Sports).

Tuttle missed the Wolverines’ Week 1 victory over Fresno State, while both Orji and Warren shared reps for Michigan’s offense in the season opener.

Joe Taylor, WR (Undisclosed)

Senior wide receiver and special teams player Joe Taylor was sidelined for Week 1 due to an undisclosed injury during the Wolverines’ victory over Fresno State. Taylor, who played in all 15 games for Michigan last season, made significant contributions on special teams, including return and coverage duties for both the kicking and punting units.
