REPORT: LSU Transfer Suffers Season Ending Injury

Nebraska football recently secured a notable victory over Shedeur Sanders and Colorado, but they faced a setback before the game. Walk-on tight end Mac Markway, who transferred from LSU, suffered a torn ACL before the matchup with the Buffaloes and will be sidelined for the remainder of the season, according to Mitch Sherman. Markway, who still has three years of eligibility, will redshirt this year.

Markway, a highly regarded prospect out of high school, surprised Nebraska by joining the team in August after deciding to leave Baton Rouge at the last minute. He managed this move by transferring as a regular student rather than through the transfer portal.

During his freshman year at LSU in 2023, Markway had three catches for 16 yards. He was heavily recruited by top programs like Alabama, Oregon, and Michigan. Originally from Iowa, Markway and his family viewed the opportunity at Nebraska—an improving program—as a great fit.

Matt Markway, Mac’s father, mentioned in August, “Mac wanted to return to his roots in the Big Ten and be closer to family. He was eager to play rather than sit out.” He also expressed optimism about Nebraska’s trajectory, saying, “I’ve been around football for a long time, and you can see when a program is on the rise. Mac is excited to be a part of that, and I think people there will appreciate his style of play.”
