SAD NEWS: Georgia Critical Offensive Piece Out-INJURY

Georgia will be missing a key offensive player next week against Alabama.

According to Jake Rowe of Dawgs HQ, part of On3 Sports, Tate Ratledge underwent tightrope surgery on his left ankle after the Bulldogs’ narrow 13-12 win over Kentucky. Ratledge, who is Georgia’s starting right guard, is expected to be sidelined for at least a month, as confirmed by Kirby Smart.

Typically, recovery from the tightrope procedure for a sprained ankle takes about four to six weeks.

Georgia OL Tate Ratledge (#69) helped off the field after suffering an ankle injury against Kentucky in 2024 matchup.

Ratledge, a native of Rome, Georgia, is considered the Bulldogs’ top offensive lineman. He has won two College Football Playoff National Championships in 2021 and 2022 and received first-team All-SEC honors in 2023. Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 310 pounds, he plays a crucial role in Georgia’s rushing attack and provides strong protection for quarterback Carson Beck. His absence will require adjustments for the Bulldogs, particularly as Alabama aims to stifle Georgia’s run game and put pressure on Beck.

Next week’s matchup between Alabama and Georgia at Saban Field in Bryant-Denny Stadium promises to be intriguing.
