College football fans were largely stunned yesterday when the North Carolina Tar Heels were defeated by the James Madison Dukes. Although JMU only recently transitioned to the FBS’ Sun Belt Conference from the FCS, they managed to score 70 points against Brown’s UNC team.
Following the loss on Saturday, Brown reportedly submitted his resignation.
However, according to ESPN, Brown was asked to remain in his role as head coach despite offering his resignation.
At 73, Brown is already inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
You guys realize Drake Maye, Sam Howell, Omarion Hampton, Josh Downs, Travis Shaw, & countless other players are only Tar Heels because of Mack Brown

His most iconic years as a coach were with the Texas Longhorns, where he guided the team to six Big 12 South division titles, two Big 12 championships, and two appearances in the BCS national championship game. Most notably, Texas fans remember the 2005 national championship victory in the Rose Bowl against the USC Trojans, where Vince Young led the game-winning drive and secured the two-point conversion.
