Looking to address potential gaps in the roster with help from the 2025 recruiting class, Bruce Pearl and Auburn secured a significant addition on Thursday when in-state prospect Simon Walker committed to the Tigers, choosing them over Iowa, Virginia Tech, and others. A standout at Huntsville High School, Walker impressed during the summer camp circuit and heads into his senior season ranked No. 134 nationally by 247Sports.
Heavily recruited by Bruce Pearl, Steven Pearl, Chad Prewett, and the Auburn staff from early in his high school career, Walker emphasized that Auburn’s belief in him, shown by offering him his first major college opportunity, was a key factor in his decision.
“They’ve been recruiting me the longest and were the first major program to really pursue me,” Walker said. “Building that relationship with B.P., Coach Steven (Pearl), and the entire coaching staff has been great. They saw my potential before many others did, and that meant a lot.”
After making several unofficial visits to Auburn and attending team camps over the years, Walker highlighted the connection he’s formed with the coaches, players, and the Auburn community as one of the reasons he’s thrilled to join the program.
“I love the atmosphere,” Walker said. “The vibe is great. It’s a fantastic campus, and I’ve had the chance to really get to know the coaching staff over the past few years. I’ve enjoyed it a lot. I love these guys.”
Walker is Auburn’s first commitment for the 2025 class.
