Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers have had a difficult season thus far on the field, but they are thriving in the recruiting process.
Right now, three is Auburn’s magic number. Five-star quarterback Deuce Knight of Lucedale, Mississippi, recently switched his Notre Dame pledge to Auburn.
With this pledge, he becomes the Tigers’ third five-star recruit of the 2025 cycle. Freeze’s class is presently ranked third in the country, behind only Alabama and Ohio State.

This is a recruiting victory that has been brewing for Auburn for some time. Deuce Knight, a highly coveted quarterback, has attended all four of the Tigers’ games this fall and just wrapped up an official visit last weekend. Despite his commitment to Notre Dame since September 2023, Auburn’s SEC appeal and his strong relationship with the coaching staff convinced him to flip.
Knight is a standout prospect, ranked as the No. 5 quarterback in the nation and the 29th overall player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. His commitment is a significant boost for Auburn’s 2025 class.
