HUGE BOOST: Auburn Confirms Commitment of Another Highly Rated Talented Star

Kail Ellis didn’t want to wait another year—he’s ready to move forward now.

The Cass (Ga.) standout announced on Saturday that he’s reclassifying from the 2026 to the 2025 recruiting cycle. Ellis, who originally committed to Auburn on Nov. 30, 2023, has remained firm in his commitment ever since.

“I’m just ready!!” Ellis said. “It’s that simple. Ready to be a Tiger.”

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 285 pounds, Ellis was ranked in the 2026 recruiting cycle as the No. 291 player overall, No. 23 interior offensive lineman, and No. 31 player from Georgia according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Now that he’s part of the 2025 class, he’ll receive an updated ranking.

Ellis plans to take his official visit to Auburn during the Texas A&M game weekend and sign his letter of intent on Dec. 4. He will complete his academic requirements at Cass in the spring and enroll at Auburn next summer.

“Auburn, my family, and I feel it’s the best place for me to achieve my goals,” Ellis shared. “With the current 2025 class of linemen and now Deuce (Knight) joining, I can’t wait to be his center! God has blessed me with a great opportunity, so why not come in early, learn from the veterans, and work hard to compete for a spot? After talking with Coach (Jake) Thornton and Coach (Hugh) Freeze, I know this is the right move.”

Auburn now has 26 commitments for the 2025 class, which ranks No. 3 in 247Sports’ team rankings. Ellis, recruited as a center, joins 4-star offensive tackles Tavaris Dice and Broderick Shull, as well as 3-star linemen Jacobe Ward, Tai Buster, and Spencer Dowland. Auburn is also pursuing 5-star offensive tackle Andrew Babalola and 3-star lineman Nelson McGuire, as Coach Thornton works to bolster the line with young talent.

Ellis, committed since last November, has been a frequent visitor to campus, including a private workout in June and attending every home game this fall. He’s eager to get started.

“Excited doesn’t even cover it,” Ellis said. “I’m thrilled to be part of Auburn’s culture and to develop early. What God has given me and being in this elite 2025 class is special. This class is DIFFERENT!”

With Ellis’ reclassification, Auburn’s 2026 class drops to five commitments—Hezekiah Harris, JaMichael Garrett, Shadarius Toodle, Denairius Gray, and Wayne Henry—and their team ranking slips from No. 2 to No. 6.

Next season, Auburn’s current center Connor Lew will enter his junior year as a third-year starter. Ellis will have the chance to redshirt and learn behind him during his first season on campus.
