The Pittsburgh Steelers have released wide receiver Jaray Jenkins from their practice squad and signed wide receiver Lance McCutcheon, the team announced on Monday. Jenkins had a solid performance during training camp, showcasing his skills in practices and the preseason.
After being cut on cut-down day, Jenkins was not re-signed to the practice squad until September 17. Now, he will need to seek a new opportunity elsewhere.
An undrafted free agent from LSU in the 2023 NFL Draft, Jenkins initially signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He spent last season with the team but was not re-signed afterward. Jenkins then joined the Steelers in June during OTAs.
The Steelers currently have three wide receivers on their practice squad: Brandon Johnson, Quez Watkins, and McCutcheon. There were no known injuries among the wide receivers during the team’s recent game against the Las Vegas Raiders, making the timing of this roster change somewhat unexpected.
