The New York Giants have bolstered their defensive line by signing former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Armon Watts to their practice squad. Watts, known for his explosive run-stopping ability, could provide valuable insight into the Steelers’ defensive schemes as the Giants prepare for their upcoming matchup on Monday Night Football.
Watts had a brief stint with the Steelers in 2023, where he contributed as a rotational player. After spending the offseason with the New England Patriots, he was unable to secure a spot on their roster following training camp. Now, with the Giants, Watts adds depth to a team that has faced its own challenges.
The Steelers are dealing with significant injuries along their offensive line, including the likely absence of center Zach Frazier. Veteran Ryan McCollum will step in as the starter for the next two games.
With three offensive linemen lost for the season, the Steelers will rely on their remaining linemen to maintain stability up front. Watts’s experience in multiple systems, including his time with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, could make him a valuable asset for the Giants as they look to strengthen their run defense in the coming weeks.
