GOOD NEWS: Tech Land 3-Star Top-Notch Linebacker In Blockbuster Deal

Last Thursday night at Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech played Boston College, which included some recruits from the Class of 2025 and 2026. In an attempt to persuade the running back to change his commitment, they hosted Brendon Haygood, a 2025 commit from Boise State.

The Class of 2025 pledge that Virginia Tech coach Brent Pry and his staff selected on Sunday already has a brother who is now a member of the Hokies and is well-versed in the program.

3-Star LB Brennan Johnson commits to Virginia Tech

Despite losing Matthew Outten, who decommitted and flipped to Penn State in September, Virginia Tech has had success with recruiting in the state of Virginia for their 2025 class. On Sunday afternoon, the Hokies landed another in-state commitment from three-star linebacker Brennan Johnson, the younger brother of current Hokie Braylon Johnson.

Brennan is ranked as the 30th-best player in Virginia for the Class of 2025. He had an impressive junior season, recording 120 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, four sacks, and three forced fumbles, earning him the 2023 Virginia Class 6 Defensive Player of the Year honors.

Johnson had offers from multiple schools, including Maryland, Ole Miss, Boston College, Penn State, Michigan State, Indiana, Miami, Duke, South Carolina, and Tennessee. He visited Virginia Tech in June during a major recruiting month for the program.

Brennan is the 17th commitment in Virginia Tech’s 2025 class and the 11th from Virginia. He joins four-star Brett Clatterbaugh and three-star Noah Chambers in the linebacker group. Other key defensive commitments include Sheldon Robinson (safety), Christian Evans (defensive lineman), Knahlij Harrell (cornerback), Zeke Chinwkie (edge), and Sherrod Henderson (edge). Brennan likely won’t be the last commitment for the Hokies’ 2025 class.
