Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe is gaining attention in NFL draft discussions as analysts refine their 2025 draft boards. The junior, regarded as one of the most athletic quarterbacks eligible for the draft, has shown significant growth since joining Alabama as a four-star recruit from Katy, Texas, in 2021. Milroe first got his starting opportunity in 2023 under Nick Saban, overcoming a mid-season benching to lead Alabama to an SEC Championship and a spot in the College Football Playoff.
Recently, Milroe faced challenges in Alabama’s 24-17 loss to No. 7 Tennessee, where he struggled with two interceptions, completing 50% of his passes for 239 yards and one touchdown. Despite his inconsistent passing, Milroe’s dual-threat ability makes him an exciting prospect for the NFL draft. According to Fox Sports’ latest mock draft, Milroe is projected to go 16th overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers, potentially replacing veteran quarterback Russell Wilson. The Steelers, currently starting Wilson after his recent return from injury, signed him to a one-year deal in the offseason and are likely to part ways with both Wilson and backup Justin Fields after this season.
NFL draft analyst Rob Dang noted that the Steelers could seize the opportunity to draft a player with Milroe’s dynamic potential, as he continues to improve. Earlier in the season, Milroe delivered an impressive performance against Georgia, racking up 491 total yards and four touchdowns. With more opportunities ahead, including a matchup against Missouri, Milroe’s draft stock has the potential to rise even higher.
