Armon Watts, a former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle, has been promoted from the New York Giants’ practice squad to their 53-man roster, as reported by Giants insider Jordan Raanan. Watts, who recently joined the Giants, will add depth to their defensive line. This move comes after his brief stint with the New England Patriots, where he signed a one-year, $3 million contract in the summer but was released during training camp.
Watts played for the Steelers in 2023 before hitting free agency and signing with the Patriots. Over his NFL career, Watts has also spent time with the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears, after being drafted by the Vikings in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft out of Arkansas.
Interestingly, Watts will face his former team on Monday Night Football when the Giants take on the Steelers, a key opportunity for the Giants as they seek to turn their season around. His familiarity with the Steelers could add intrigue to the matchup.
