The Pittsburgh Steelers will be without key rotational pass rusher and interior defensive lineman Montravius Adams for several weeks after he aggravated a knee injury during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets. To compensate for Adams’ absence, the team has re-signed nose tackle Breiden Fehoko as a precaution, though head coach Mike Tomlin did not provide a specific timeline for Adams’ return.
Adams initially sustained the knee injury during Friday’s practice and was listed as questionable for the game. However, the Steelers cleared him to play on Saturday. Unfortunately, he played just one snap before being pulled from the game, not to return.
Adams dealt with a similar knee injury last season that sidelined him for four weeks, and he is now expected to be out at least until the Steelers’ November 17 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. With DeMarvin Leal already lost for the season due to a neck injury, this leaves a gap in the team’s interior pass rush depth. Dean Lowry and Isaiahh Loudermilk will likely see increased playing time in Adams’ absence.
