On Friday, the Michigan Wolverines secured two major defensive additions for their 2025 recruiting class: four-star cornerback Shamari Earls and three-star defensive lineman Benny Patterson, both of whom switched their commitments from another school. Now, Michigan aims to round out the class with a few more top recruits.
One of the prime targets is four-star wide receiver Derek Meadows, a top-100 prospect. The 6-foot-5, 200-pound receiver from Bishop Gorman in Las Vegas visited Ann Arbor over the summer but eventually chose to commit to LSU, where he would join five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood.
However, with the early signing period approaching, Meadows may be reconsidering his options. According to Tom Loy of 247Sports, Meadows is among the group of recruits attending Michigan’s game against Oregon this afternoon.
“As I reported yesterday… I’m told Top100 receiver and #LSU commit Derek Meadows is visiting #Michigan today for the game vs. Oregon. Big-time talent checking out Ann Arbor.”

Meadows has remained committed to LSU since July, but like other prospects showing interest in Michigan recently, he may be having second thoughts. Having such a highly ranked player from another program visit is significant for Michigan, and it suggests the Wolverines might have a genuine chance to sway Underwood as well. Although Meadows and Underwood aren’t necessarily a package deal, it’s uncommon for a top receiver to visit a program without a quarterback in place, especially this close to the signing period.
Michigan appears to be making substantial efforts to flip Underwood, and if successful, Meadows could potentially follow. Stay tuned to Maize n Brew for the latest updates.
