The Florida Gators secured their 13th commitment for the Class of 2025 on Sunday afternoon, landing quarterback Tramell Jones (6-0, 195 lbs) from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, FL. Jones’ commitment follows his official visit to Gainesville and comes shortly after decommitting from Florida State, where he had been committed for over a year. Throughout that time, the Gators maintained consistent communication with him.
Jones, a Jacksonville native, has strong ties to the Gators, frequently visiting Gainesville during the spring and summer. He is also close friends with current Florida commit Vernell “Trey” Brown, having played together on the same 7-on-7 team.
Ranked among the nation’s top quarterbacks, Jones has faced adversity this season due to a leg injury that sidelined him for much of his senior year, though he is expected to be ready for spring activities.
Jones’ addition is significant for Florida as the Gators look to bolster their quarterback depth, especially with Graham Mertz set to graduate. The commitment also has positive implications for recruiting, as Jones has close connections with Florida State offensive line commit Solomon Thomas and his teammate, Texas receiver Jaime Ffrench, both of whom visited the Gators’ campus this past weekend.
