Two years ago, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry bolstered the team’s receiving corps by adding Da’Quan Felton, Ali Jennings, and Jaylin Lane through the transfer portal. Over the last two seasons, Felton and Lane became integral to the Hokies’ offense, while Jennings showed glimpses of his potential despite dealing with multiple injuries.
Felton emerged as a key target this season for quarterbacks Kyron Drones, Collin Schlee, and Pop Watson. After two productive seasons in Blacksburg, the former Norfolk State transfer announced on Tuesday night that he is declaring for the NFL Draft.
Da’Quan Felton declares for NFL Draft
Last season was relatively quiet for Virginia Tech in the NFL Draft, but that won’t be the case this April, even after another 6-6 finish. Wide receiver Da’Quan Felton will be among the Hokies looking to make the leap to the NFL. On Tuesday night, he announced via Instagram that he is declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft, set to take place in April in Green Bay.
Felton’s status for the upcoming Duke’s Mayo Bowl against Minnesota on Jan. 3 remains uncertain. However, he has received an invitation to the Senior Bowl next month, giving him a chance to showcase his skills in front of NFL scouts.
This season, Felton experienced a dip in production, recording 32 receptions for 360 yards and two touchdowns. In contrast, his first year at Virginia Tech saw him tally 38 receptions for 667 yards and eight touchdowns, including a pivotal 84-yard touchdown in the regular-season finale against Virginia that secured bowl eligibility for the Hokies. Against the Cavaliers this year, Felton managed two catches for 50 yards, including a 42-yard reception from quarterback Pop Watson. He also delivered a highlight moment earlier in the season with a 55-yard touchdown catch on Oct. 5 at Stanford, helping Virginia Tech secure a 31-7 victory.
