Keelon Russell faced strong efforts from multiple programs trying to flip his commitment to Alabama before officially signing with the Crimson Tide.
During media day at the Under Armour All-America Game, Russell revealed that Colorado, LSU, and Texas were all vying for his commitment. While he didn’t disclose the financial details of the offers, he admitted that significant figures were “thrown around.” Ultimately, Alabama’s offer resonated most deeply with him, thanks to their early faith in his potential, even before his standout senior season.
“Alabama came to one of my worst practices as a quarterback. I was off that day… and saw something in me,” Russell shared, highlighting the program’s belief in him.
Russell and his family briefly considered a visit to Colorado but decided against it due to circulating rumors, according to the Alabama signee.
The Texas native is set to officially join the Crimson Tide in January, solidifying his future with the program.
