SQUAD REBUILD: The Hokies Commits Another Highly Experienced Star Bolstering Squad Depth

Virginia Tech head coach Brent Pry has made it a priority to emphasize staying or returning home to Virginia. Since taking over the program, Pry has effectively used the NCAA transfer portal to bring back players who initially left the state after high school. Notable examples include Antwaun Powell-Ryland, Kelvin Gilliam, and, most recently, Sherrod Covil.

On Sunday, Pry added another success story, securing former four-star running back Cameron Seldon. Once the top-ranked player in Virginia’s 2023 recruiting class, Seldon originally committed to Tennessee, where he spent two seasons before entering the transfer portal. Now, he’s coming back home to Virginia.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound Cameron Seldon is set to play wide receiver for the Hokies. A dynamic, dual-threat talent reminiscent of 49ers star Deebo Samuel, Seldon combines power and explosiveness with the ball in his hands. A native of Browns Store, Virginia, he showcased his skills at Northumberland High School.

During his two seasons at Tennessee, Seldon appeared in 19 games, rushing 48 times for 224 yards and a touchdown as part of a crowded backfield. He also contributed as a kickoff returner.

Seldon has two years of eligibility remaining and becomes the 10th player added to Virginia Tech’s roster through the transfer portal, with more likely to follow. Earlier this month, the Hokies also secured commitments from running backs Terion Stewart (Bowling Green) and Marcellous Hawkins (Central Missouri).

This is another significant pickup for Brent Pry.

Welcome home, Cameron!
