HUGE BOOST: The Pirates Land Another Highly Experienced versatile Star In Blockbuster Deal

East Carolina football had a busy weekend in the transfer portal, highlighted by the commitment of offensive lineman on Sunday. Trnavsky, a standout from Newberry College (S.C.), chose ECU after visiting both Greenville and Charlotte earlier in the week. He will join the Pirates for his final year of eligibility.

Trnavsky is one of three offensive line commits for ECU on the day, alongside Lievi Semaia from El Camino College. The third lineman has not yet announced publicly but is committed to the program.

Standing 6-foot-5 and weighing 295 pounds, Trnavsky is a multi-year starter and all-conference performer at the Division II level. Primarily playing on the right side of the line, he has experience at both guard and tackle. His film showcases strong footwork, a sturdy base, and good athleticism. Trnavsky turned down offers from schools such as Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, UMass, Ohio, Middle Tennessee State, Miami (OH), Eastern Michigan, UTEP, and Colorado State, as well as several FCS programs.

With ECU losing key offensive linemen, including starting left tackle Parker Moorer, senior center Dustyn Hall, and versatile guard Hampton Ergle, Trnavsky and the incoming recruits are expected to compete for immediate playing time.

A native of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Trnavsky attended Dorman High School before excelling at Newberry College.

East Carolina’s offense, led by offensive coordinator John David Baker and offensive line coach Matt Mattox, showed strong production in 2024, averaging 32.5 points and 433.3 yards per game. The Pirates finished the regular season 7-5 (5-3 in The American) and earned a bowl bid under head coach Blake Harrell, who took over late in the season and led the team to a 4-1 finish. ECU will wrap up its 2024 season on Dec. 28 in the Military Bowl against NC State.
