The Detroit Lions have released wide receiver Tom Kennedy, likely in anticipation of Kalif Raymond’s return from injured reserve. Raymond, who has been recovering from a foot injury sustained against the Indianapolis Colts last month, has been practicing fully over the past couple of weeks and could potentially return before the end of the regular season.
Kennedy had stepped in to help fill the returner role during Raymond’s absence. He’s familiar with the process of moving between the roster and practice squad, having appeared in four games this season, including handling one punt return and six kickoff returns.
The Detroit Lions have re-signed defensive back Morice Norris to their practice squad. Norris had briefly been promoted to the 53-man roster last week, where he played 20 snaps on special teams.
Most of the season, Norris has been part of the Lions’ practice squad. He played college football at Orange Coast and Fresno State before joining Detroit as an undrafted rookie free agent following the draft.
