The New York Giants are reportedly hiring Grant Morgan, an assistant linebackers coach from Illinois, to join their defensive coaching staff. The specific details of his role have not yet been revealed.
Morgan spent the last two seasons working alongside Illinois head coach Bret Bielema, who had been the Giants’ outside linebackers coach in 2020 under Joe Judge.
Morgan, a former player for the Arkansas Razorbacks, began his career as a preferred walk-on in 2016 under Bielema’s coaching. Over six seasons at Arkansas, he racked up 313 tackles and earned All-American honors, as well as the Burlsworth Trophy, awarded to the nation’s top former walk-on player.
After going undrafted in 2021, Morgan briefly joined the Jacksonville Jaguars’ practice squad before transitioning to coaching.
Currently, the Giants have John Egorugwu coaching inside linebackers and Charlie Bullen working with the edge defenders.
