HUGE BLOW: Setback, Reds Lose Another Top-Notch Fans Favorite

The Mariners have bolstered their bullpen by acquiring right-handed reliever Casey Legumina from the Reds in exchange for cash considerations. Legumina, who was designated for assignment by Cincinnati on January 30, has been added to Seattle’s 40-man roster.

The 27-year-old pitched in six big league games last season across multiple call-ups, recording an 8.68 ERA. However, he found more success at Triple-A Louisville, posting a 3.24 ERA over 39 appearances. After making his MLB debut in 2023, he has compiled a 5.68 ERA across 11 major league games.

Legumina joins a group of relievers the Mariners have added this offseason to strengthen their bullpen depth. Notably, Seattle signed hard-throwing Shintaro Fujinami to a minor league deal in January and also brought in former closer Neftalí Feliz.

Seattle’s bullpen, anchored by closer Andrés Muñoz, was one of the team’s strengths last season. Mariners relievers ranked ninth in MLB with a 3.71 ERA.
