SAD NEWS: Cubs Gets Bad News Amid…

The Boston Red Sox have secured Alex Bregman from the Chicago Cubs. According to Chandler Rome of The Athletic, Bregman has agreed to a three-year, $120 million contract with Boston, featuring opt-outs after each season.

“The contract is for three years and $120 million,” Rome reported, citing a source.

While the Cubs had shown interest in Bregman, concerns about signing him ultimately led to his departure, leaving Chicago in a weaker position. Though Matt Shaw has potential, expecting him to replicate even half of Bregman’s career production would be an unfair burden, increasing the pressure on him to perform. After months of speculation, the Cubs can now move forward without pretending they were aggressively pursuing Bregman.
