Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills showed they were close to clinching a Super Bowl victory, but fell short in the AFC Championship Game. The Bills finished the season with a 15-5 record, including the postseason, and ended the year with a 32-29 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. After the season wrapped up, Bills offensive lineman Tommy Doyle announced his retirement due to a leg injury that caused nerve damage. At 26 years old, Doyle was medically forced to retire. Allen responded to the news on social media, posting a red heart and a goat emoji, symbolizing the “greatest of all time.”
Doyle posted a heartfelt message announcing his retirement on social media, reflecting on his journey: “What an adventure. The highs, the lows. The wins, the losses. The adversity, the lessons, the brotherhood—every moment has shaped me. After fighting through injuries and nerve damage, I’ve made the difficult choice to retire. I wanted to be honest with you all, instead of letting rumors take over. As much as I wanted to keep going, I trust God’s plan is greater than mine. To my teammates, coaches, family, trainers, and friends—you made this journey unforgettable. To the Pegula family and the Bills organization, thank you for believing in me. To Buffalo and the Bills Mafia, your support has meant everything. This isn’t goodbye—it’s the next chapter. I look forward to tailgating with you next season. JOHN 13:7.”
Doyle was drafted by the Bills in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, following his college career at Miami (Ohio) from 2016 to 2020.
