Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon continues to showcase why he’s one of the best players in the world. Through 61 games this season, he has tallied 23 goals and 68 assists for a total of 91 points, putting him on pace for the second-highest point total of his career.

MacKinnon played a key role in the Avalanche’s 5-3-0 record in February, contributing four goals and eight assists. The 29-year-old also shined on the international stage, winning MVP at the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament after scoring four goals and leading Canada to a championship. His efforts didn’t go unnoticed, as the NHL named him the First Star of the Month on Saturday. Tampa Bay Lightning left wing Brandon Hagel and Edmonton Oilers center Leon Draisaitl were named the Second and Third Stars, respectively.

Now in his 12th NHL season after being selected first overall in the 2013 draft, MacKinnon has built an impressive résumé. He is a seven-time All-Star, a Stanley Cup champion (2022), and the recipient of multiple awards, including the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy (2020), the Ted Lindsay Award (2024), and the Hart Memorial Trophy (2024).
