Rangers Trade

New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that the team has acquired defenseman Calvin de Haan, forward Juuso Parssinen, a conditional second-round pick, and a conditional fourth-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft from the Colorado Avalanche. In exchange, the Rangers are sending Ryan Lindgren, Jimmy Vesey, and the rights to unsigned draft pick Hank Kempf to Colorado. With this trade, New York now holds eight picks in the upcoming draft.

De Haan, 33, has played in 44 games for Colorado this season, contributing seven assists. He ranks fifth on the team in both hits (59) and blocked shots (58). Over his 13-season NHL career, split between Colorado, Tampa Bay, Carolina, Chicago, and the Islanders, he has recorded 148 points (24 goals, 124 assists) in 676 games. He has surpassed 100 hits and 100 blocked shots in six seasons and has finished with a plus-1 or better rating in eight campaigns.

The Carp, Ontario native has also played in 38 playoff games across five postseasons, tallying five points (1 goal, 4 assists). On the international stage, de Haan won silver medals with Team Canada at the 2017 World Championship and at the 2010 and 2011 World Junior Championships. He was originally drafted 12th overall by the Islanders in the first round of the 2009 NHL Draft.

Parssinen, 24, has appeared in 37 games this season between the Avalanche and Nashville Predators, registering four goals and seven assists for 11 points. He played his 100th career NHL game on November 17 in Vancouver.

The Hameenlinna, Finland native has accumulated 48 points (18 goals, 30 assists) in 126 career NHL games with Colorado and Nashville. In the 2022-23 season with the Predators, he set career highs in games played (45), assists (19), points (25), and game-winning goals (3). Last season, he recorded a career-best eight goals.

On the international stage, Parssinen has represented Finland in multiple tournaments, including the 2021 World Junior Championship, where he won a bronze medal. He was originally selected by the Predators in the seventh round, 210th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
