New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced that the team has acquired forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for defenseman Erik Brannstrom.
Aube-Kubel, 28, has appeared in 19 games for Buffalo this season, recording one goal and one assist. He has also contributed eight points (4G-4A) with a plus-3 rating in 12 games for the AHL’s Rochester Americans.
A native of Slave Lake, Alberta, Aube-Kubel has totaled 32 goals and 48 assists for 80 points in 301 NHL games across stints with Buffalo, Washington, Toronto, Colorado, and Philadelphia. Known for his physical play, he has registered 115 or more hits in each of his last four full NHL seasons. He set career highs in goals (11), assists (12), points (23), and plus/minus (+11) during the 2021-22 season and won the Stanley Cup that year with the Avalanche.
Originally selected 48th overall by the Flyers in the 2014 NHL Draft, Aube-Kubel adds depth and physicality to the Rangers’ forward group.
