Ashton Jeanty

Given how the Las Vegas Raiders’ offseason has unfolded, most major mock drafts are predicting the team will select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. So far, the Raiders have only added veteran Raheem Mostert in free agency, but he isn’t seen as a long-term solution at starting running back. With few viable options remaining on the free agent market, Las Vegas appears poised to address the position through the draft.

Although it’s uncommon for teams to spend a top-six pick on a running back in today’s NFL, Jeanty is considered an exception. Last season, he finished just 28 yards short of surpassing Barry Sanders’ all-time single-season college rushing record. Many believe Jeanty has the potential to make an immediate impact as one of the league’s top backs from day one.

According to Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz, the Raiders are seriously weighing the possibility of taking Jeanty with their first selection. “The Raiders, meanwhile, are certainly not done adding offensive weaponry to build around all-world rookie tight end Brock Bowers,” Schultz wrote in a column on Thursday. “And with the No. 6 pick in the draft, there is a contingent of Ashton Jeanty supporters within the organization.”

Schultz also noted that head coach Pete Carroll has had prior success with a powerful, dominant runner like Marshawn Lynch—and Jeanty could be the next in line. With newly acquired two-time Pro Bowl quarterback Smith in place, the Silver and Black believe they’ve finally stabilized the quarterback position after years of inconsistency.
