Stephen Curry’s injury concerns may finally be behind him. According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Curry is set to rejoin the Golden State Warriors on their Eastern Conference road trip and will be re-evaluated ahead of their upcoming matchup against the Miami Heat. Curry had been sidelined indefinitely after suffering a pelvic contusion during last Thursday’s game against the Toronto Raptors. If cleared, he’s expected to return to action against Miami.

Though his absence hasn’t been lengthy, the Warriors are eager to have Curry back on the court. Their road trip has gotten off to a rough start, highlighted by a 124-115 loss to the Atlanta Hawks—a setback that stalled much of the momentum they had built following the All-Star break.

Curry had been shouldering a heavy load during the team’s recent surge, and the time off may have given him a much-needed break from the physical toll. Even head coach Steve Kerr acknowledged that Curry was showing signs of fatigue after carrying the team through their winning stretch in recent weeks.

Since the All-Star break, Curry has been in top form, averaging 26.5 points, 5.9 assists, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 0.3 blocks per game. He’s also shooting an efficient 49% from the field, 41.1% from three-point range, and an impressive 93.8% from the free-throw line. Warriors fans are hopeful he can build on those numbers heading into the playoffs.

A return against the Heat would give Golden State a crucial boost as they continue their push toward securing a guaranteed playoff berth. The Warriors currently sit sixth in the Western Conference with a 41-30 record, but they’re feeling pressure from teams like the Clippers and Timberwolves right behind them. Locking down a playoff spot is critical, especially considering Golden State’s struggles in the play-in tournament. Since the format was introduced in 2021, they’ve failed to win a single game, going 0-3 in two appearances. The team is motivated to avoid that route entirely this season.

One major reason for the Warriors’ late-season resurgence has been the arrival of Jimmy Butler. Before acquiring Butler, Golden State held a disappointing 26-25 record. Since then, they’ve gone 16-5 and emerged as one of the hottest teams in the league. Butler has settled into his role as the team’s second option behind Curry, bringing renewed energy and playoff-tested experience.

With Butler’s history of elevating his play in the postseason, there’s growing optimism about the Warriors’ potential for a deep playoff run. Despite holding the sixth seed, Golden State’s championship experience—combined with the star duo of Curry and Butler—makes them one of the most dangerous teams in the league heading into the postseason.
