Stop us if this sounds familiar—the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels have completed yet another trade. This time, the Braves acquired 6’7” pitcher Michael Peterson from the Angels in exchange for the ever-mysterious “cash considerations.”

Peterson, 30, made his MLB debut last year with the Los Angeles Dodgers, appearing in 11 games before joining the Miami Marlins, where he pitched in five more. This offseason, he had stints with the Toronto Blue Jays and eventually landed with the Los Angeles Angels after a series of waiver claims.

Originally from the U.K., Peterson was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 17th round of the 2015 draft—the fourth consecutive year he had been selected.

He made one appearance at Triple-A with the Angels this season before being traded. Now, he adds depth to a Gwinnett pitching staff that has already sent Bryce Elder and Zach Thompson to Atlanta following Jesse Chavez’s recall and subsequent designation for assignment.

Last season, Peterson averaged 97 MPH on his fastball in limited MLB action. At Triple-A, he posted an impressive 12 strikeouts per nine innings and a 0.758 WHIP across 35 appearances.
