CONGRATULATIONS: The Sabres Top-Notch Fans Favorite Earns Another Major Award

Buffalo Sabres prospect, currently ranked fourth in the organization, was named the Rochester Americans’ Player of the Month for March. He also earned Player of the Week honors for March 24-30, heating up just as the Americans prepare for the playoffs.

Ostlund delivered an impressive 14 points in 11 games last month, scoring nine goals and adding five assists. He kicked off March with goals against division rivals Syracuse and Laval, both crucial matchups in the playoff race.

His standout performance came on March 22, when he notched his first AHL hat trick against Syracuse. The following night, he netted the game-winning goal versus Utica. He continued his scoring streak with a goal in a win over Bridgeport on March 28, followed by a three-point game against Syracuse on March 29. He closed the month strong with a goal and an assist against Syracuse on March 30, extending his goal streak to five games and his point streak to seven.

It’s safe to say Syracuse had no answer for Ostlund, who dominated them throughout the month. In 43 games this season, the 21-year-old Swede has recorded 18 goals and 17 assists for 35 points. He also leads all AHL rookies in plus/minus at +20 and ranks fourth in the league with 14 goals since the All-Star break.

Can Ostlund be the X-Factor for the Americans

With the playoffs approaching, the Rochester Americans currently sit in second place in the North Division, trailing the Laval Rocket by just five points. If they face Laval in the postseason, they’ll need a player to step up—and Noah Ostlund could be the perfect candidate.

Ostlund’s recent hot streak, combined with his potential linemates Isak Rosen and Brett Murray, could give the Americans one of the most dangerous lines in the AHL. His strong play down the stretch positions him as a key factor in their playoff push.

Beyond the postseason, this could also serve as a proving ground for Ostlund as he aims to earn a spot on the Sabres’ roster next season. Buffalo may have openings on their third and fourth lines, and while Rosen appears to be a strong candidate for one of those spots, Ostlund could force his way into the mix if he maintains his current level of play.

In his first full AHL season, the 21-year-old has impressed, and while he still has room to develop, it’s clear he’s on the fast track to joining the Sabres. It’s only a matter of time before he makes the jump to the NHL.
