HUGE BOOST: The Tigers Confirm Return Versatile Experience Star

AUBURN, AL — Auburn Tigers highly experience quarterback is back on the field for his second spring practice with the team, and his enthusiasm is palpable. After a year of settling in, Burgess, who transferred to Auburn last season, is excited to continue building on the foundation he started in 2024.

“It’s another day where it feels like home,” Burgess said, reflecting on his return to the practice field. “Every day, it gets more comfortable. The coaches, my teammates—it’s a good environment. I’m just excited to keep growing with this team.”

Burgess, who previously played at a smaller school, came to Auburn in hopes of making a bigger impact in the SEC. His first year was full of adjustments, both on and off the field, but after completing his first spring session in 2024, he feels more confident in his role.

Now, entering his second spring practice, Burgess is focusing on fine-tuning his skills and leadership qualities as the Tigers look to improve their offensive game. The competition at quarterback is expected to be fierce, but Burgess is confident in his ability to lead the charge.

“The coaches are pushing me to be better, and I’m pushing myself too,” Burgess said. “I’m just trying to do everything I can to help this team win. I know there are a lot of eyes on me, but I’m focused on what I can control, and that’s just getting better every day.”

Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has been impressed by Burgess’s growth, especially in terms of his understanding of the playbook and his ability to communicate with his teammates. “Travis has really stepped up. He’s a guy who is continuing to mature and grow as a quarterback. It’s clear that he’s feeling more comfortable with every rep,” Freeze said.

Burgess’s development will be crucial for Auburn’s offensive plans as they look to build on a solid 2024 season. With spring practice still in full swing, the quarterback battle is far from over, but Burgess is making it clear that he’s ready to compete.

As spring practice progresses, Burgess will have plenty of opportunities to solidify his place as Auburn’s starting quarterback for the 2025 season. But for now, he’s focused on the small steps that will lead to bigger successes.

With a renewed sense of confidence and a clear vision for his role, Travis Burgess is ready to embrace what lies ahead in his second spring practice with the Auburn Tigers.
