The Los Angeles Angels (9-6) are set to begin a three-game road series against the Texas Rangers (9-7) in what promises to be an early-season showdown between the top two teams in the AL West. Both clubs are the only ones in the division with winning records entering the series, making this matchup particularly significant. Although the games will be played in Texas, the Angels have performed well on the road so far, posting a 7-5 record away from home. They’ll be looking to stay hot against the defending World Series champions.

Ahead of the series, the Angels made some roster moves. Last week, they placed Yoán Moncada on the injured list, creating space for J.D. Davis to be called up from Triple-A. They also designated left-handed pitcher Jack Dashwood for assignment. On Monday, the team confirmed that Dashwood had cleared waivers and was sent outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.

Dashwood, 27, has not yet made his MLB debut. Over five minor league seasons, he has a 5.45 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and a 10-7 record. He’s struggled this year with the Salt Lake Bees, giving up 12 earned runs in just two innings across four appearances for an astronomical 54.00 ERA.

Dashwood’s pitch mix includes a four-seam fastball, slider, sinker, and changeup, though he’s considered to have below-average velocity, with his fastball averaging 92.3 mph. He’ll continue to work on his development in Triple-A as the Angels push forward in the early stages of the 2025 season.
