The Braves’ injured ace made his return on Wednesday and mostly looked like his usual self, but the offense struggled badly once again, spoiling Strider’s comeback. Matt Olson seemed clearly frustrated afterward — and understandably so. He’s been especially unlucky with balls in play early this season, but the bigger issue is that the offense as a whole has been underwhelming, especially considering the talent and expectations. This slump is a continuation of a strange trend dating back to last season, despite the lineup still including most of the same players who powered one of the best offenses in MLB history in 2023. Atlanta needs its star hitters to find their rhythm — and get at least a little bit of luck.
Braves News
Matt Olson didn’t hold back when talking about the team’s recent struggles, expressing frustration with the continued offensive issues that have lingered since last season.
Spencer Strider made his return from injury, and while he wasn’t quite in top form, he still delivered a solid start. Unfortunately, the offense couldn’t provide support in a 3-1 loss to the Blue Jays.
In a corresponding move to activate Strider, the Braves optioned Zach Thompson to the minors.
