The Auburn Tigers men’s basketball program has been riding an emotional wave since their 2024-25 campaign came to a close. Just days after Johni Broome and Tahaad Pettiford declared for the NBA Draft, guard Denver Jones became the latest Tiger to announce his departure.
Jones shared his heartfelt goodbye on social media, writing:
“Wouldn’t trade this for anything in the world. #Auburnman4L”
The post drew an outpouring of support, but one response stood out: the Auburn Men’s Basketball official Instagram account commented simply, “Auburn Legend.” A bold endorsement considering Auburn’s storied history featuring names like Charles Barkley, Chuck Person, and Mike Mitchell.
Jones spent just one season on The Plains but made a lasting impact, averaging 10.9 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game in 2024–25. Over his four-year college career, he compiled averages of 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per contest.
With Bruce Pearl already hitting the recruiting trail to reload for the 2025-26 season, Jones’ departure marks another key change for the Tigers. Still, his contributions — both on and off the court — have clearly earned him a place in Auburn lore.
