BREAKING NEWS: The Rangers Gets Another Stunning News Involving Chris Drury

The New York Rangers have officially extended the contract of Chris Drury, who will continue serving as the team’s President and General Manager on a multi-year deal.

James L. Dolan, Executive Chairman and CEO of MSG Sports, expressed his confidence in Drury’s leadership, acknowledging the passion and drive he brings to the role. While the team fell short this past season, Dolan emphasized his belief in Drury’s ability to steer the organization toward future success.

Drury, who has held his current position since May 5, 2021, said he is honored to extend his tenure with the franchise he has supported since childhood. He reaffirmed his commitment to helping the Rangers achieve their goals in the upcoming seasons.

Under Drury’s leadership over the past four full seasons, the Rangers have compiled a 193-105-30 record—marking the most wins over a four-year span in team history—and made three playoff appearances. In his first three full seasons at the helm, New York played in 43 postseason games, winning 23 and reaching the Eastern Conference Final twice (2021–22 and 2023–24). Only three other times in franchise history has the team had a comparable three-year playoff stretch.

During the 2023–24 campaign, the Rangers set new single-season franchise records with 55 wins and 114 points, earning the Presidents’ Trophy for the NHL’s best regular season. Drury was also a finalist for the NHL’s General Manager of the Year award in his first full season in 2021–22.

Most recently, he served as Assistant GM for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off and remains a key member of USA Hockey’s advisory group.

As a player, Drury enjoyed a 12-season NHL career with the Avalanche, Flames, Sabres, and Rangers, notching 615 points in 892 games. He won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2001, was named NHL Rookie of the Year in 1999, and captained the Rangers for three seasons.
