The mystery has been solved. After weeks of speculation since the Super Bowl, the Philadelphia Eagles have secured their newest player: Jihaad Campbell!
Standing 6’3″ and weighing in at 244 pounds, Campbell is considered by some to be the top off-ball linebacker in the 2025 NFL Draft. And the Eagles snagged him at 31st overall!
At pick 31, Philly is off to an excellent start. However, there’s still work to be done. The good news is that many of the top defensive prospects are still available for selection.
This draft class isn’t regarded as one of the best, with Howie Roseman noting that the Eagles didn’t have 32 players graded as first-round prospects. However, Campbell was ranked in the top ten. As always, heading into night two, several players who were expected to go in the first round are still on the board, which bodes well for Philly.
Here are the best remaining defensive prospects after an exciting first night of NFL Draft action.
Philly could be heading for another Round 2 gem, as they hold the 64th overall pick.
With 32 picks already in the books, including four made by NFC East rivals, the Giants selected Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart, while the Cowboys picked guard Tyler Booker, and the Commanders took Josh Conerly.
The Eagles are still the top team in the division, but they lost several key defensive players during free agency. Notable departures include Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, Oren Burks, and Avonte Maddox.

Expect Philly to look to replenish their defense, giving defensive coordinator Vic Fangio some fresh talent to work with. Here are some highly-rated defenders still available.
Mike Green, EDGE, Marshall
Some scouts have ranked Mike Green as the second-best edge rusher in this draft. While his competition hasn’t been the toughest, he’s dominated against the players he’s faced. Green is also a strong run defender, which should appeal to Vic Fangio.
Donovan Ezeiruaku, EDGE, Boston College
How is Donovan Ezeiruaku still on the board? He’s clearly one of the top five edge rushers, and whoever drafts him will be getting a steal.
Will Johnson, CB, Michigan
Will Johnson may not have elite speed, but he excels in almost every other aspect. A solid cover corner, he won’t be waiting long to hear his name called.
Shavon Revel Jr., CB, East Carolina
Another standout from a smaller school, Shavon Revel Jr. has raw talent. Though his history includes a torn ACL, don’t overlook him—he has great potential.
Trey Amos, CB, Ole Miss
Philly has interest in Trey Amos. While he may not be the fastest, he’s a dependable second corner who could eventually develop into a CB1.
Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina
The Eagles still have six picks remaining, including three in Rounds 2-4 (64, 96, and 134), plus four more in the fifth round. Unless something changes, they’ll be selecting at 161, 165, and 168. Expect some changes by Saturday, but Day 2 should bring more excitement.
Kevin Winston Jr., S, Penn State
Kevin Winston Jr. was one of the later top 30 visits for Philly. A recent injury may have caused his slide, along with some inconsistent performances, but if he’s fully recovered, he has the potential to be a standout for years to come.
