BREAKING NEWS: The Phillies Faces Another Setback In Rehab Assignment

Brandon Marsh’s 2025 season continues to spiral from bad to worse. After struggling mightily at the plate, Marsh landed on the 10-day injured list with a right knee strain, retroactive to April 17. Now rehabbing with the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Marsh’s luck hasn’t improved — he exited Sunday’s game, his fourth minor league appearance and third start in center field, after six innings due to a hamstring issue, per Corey Seidman of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Marsh will be reevaluated in Philadelphia on Monday.

Marsh began the year as the Phillies’ starting center fielder, but his performance has left much to be desired. He’s currently mired in an 0-for-31 slump and is batting just .095. While his defensive play has remained solid, it hasn’t been enough to offset his offensive woes.

Last season, Marsh hit .249 with 16 home runs and 60 RBIs, though he found most of his success against right-handed pitchers. Manager Rob Thomson aimed to expand Marsh’s role in 2025 by giving him more opportunities against left-handers, but Marsh only logged 16 plate appearances against southpaws before his injury.

In Marsh’s absence, Johan Rojas has seized his opportunity, starting the last 10 games heading into Sunday. Rojas has gone 9-for-29 (.310) with six runs scored and five RBIs, making a strong case to stay in the lineup. If Rojas keeps producing, Marsh may find himself shifted into a backup role once healthy. For now, Marsh can only hope that his latest injury scare doesn’t cause further delays in his return.
