Chad Baker-Mazara called his latest move a “dream turned into reality” as he announced Monday that he’s transferring to USC for his final season of NCAA eligibility. The former Auburn guard made the decision just weeks after the Tigers’ Final Four loss to eventual champion Florida.

The 25-year-old is on the move for the fifth time in five seasons, having previously played at Duquesne, San Diego State, Northwest Florida State, and most recently Auburn. His return to California reunites him with the West Coast for one last college campaign.

Auburn teammate Johni Broome showed his support on Instagram, commenting “Yaaa CB” under Baker-Mazara’s announcement. The two were standouts on Auburn’s 2024–25 squad, which reached the Final Four as a No. 1 seed but fell just short of a national title. Broome earned SEC Player of the Year and All-American honors, while Baker-Mazara, with his 6’7″ frame and versatility, played a key two-way role—averaging 12 points and hitting 38% from beyond the arc.

As USC looks to return to the NCAA Tournament under second-year head coach Eric Musselman, Baker-Mazara’s experience, defensive range, and scoring touch could be a major asset for the Trojans in 2025–26.
