HUGE BOOST: The Phillies Welcomes 3 Top Experience Star

Brandon Marsh (Right Hamstring Strain)
Status: 10-day IL, currently rehabbing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley
Marsh landed on the injured list (retroactive to April 17) after straining his right hamstring during a play in center field on April 16 against the Giants. In his absence, Cal Stevenson was called up from Triple-A. Marsh is currently on a rehab assignment with Lehigh Valley. He was scheduled to play Thursday and Friday in Rochester, though he was recently pulled early from a rehab game due to hamstring cramping. The Phillies will evaluate his status after the weekend games.

Ranger Suárez (Low Back Stiffness)
Status: 15-day IL, progressing through rehab
Suárez has been sidelined with back stiffness, an issue he’s dealt with in the past. He has made four rehab starts in the minors and was scheduled to throw a bullpen session at Citizens Bank Park on Wednesday. The Phillies are being cautious but believe Suárez is close to returning. Taijuan Walker has filled in during his absence.

Andrew Painter (Tommy John Surgery Recovery)
Status: Rehabbing with Single-A Clearwater; MLB debut expected midseason
The Phillies’ top prospect is expected to debut around July after missing all of 2024 recovering from Tommy John surgery. Painter, who hasn’t pitched in a competitive game since spring 2023, remains with the Clearwater Threshers for now—despite earlier reports suggesting a promotion to Triple-A. He’s scheduled to pitch on Thursday, targeting about four innings or 60 pitches.
