Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds Unlocks New Level With Videogame Studio Launch

Dan Reynolds, lead singer of Imagine Dragons, has ventured into the world of video game development by co-founding Night Street Games with his brother, Mac Reynolds. Their debut project, Last Flag, is a 5v5 third-person shooter that reimagines the classic capture-the-flag (CTF) mode. The game is set to launch in 2026 on Windows PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with plans for console versions to follow.

Drawing inspiration from their childhood experiences of playing capture-the-flag in the woods at night, the Reynolds brothers aim to capture the thrill and strategy of those games in a modern digital format. Last Flag introduces innovative gameplay mechanics, such as hiding flags before capturing them and securing intel by controlling radar towers, adding depth and strategy to the traditional CTF formula. The game also features a unique 1970s game-show aesthetic, complete with a retro soundtrack composed using vintage equipment.

Reynolds’ passion for gaming is well-documented. The band’s music has been featured in various video games, including Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed III, Epic Games’ Infinity Blade III, and Riot Games’ League of Legends. Reynolds himself has been an avid gamer, often playing games like League of Legends during tours, sometimes causing delays to concerts due to his engrossing gameplay.

In addition to his musical endeavors, Reynolds has dabbled in game development. During a break from touring, he learned C# programming and Unity game development, leading to the creation of a Unity game titled Reflections. This game featured 23 unreleased demos from Imagine Dragons and was part of an alternate reality game (ARG) tied to the band’s 10th-anniversary album, Reflections (from the Vault of Smoke + Mirrors).

With Last Flag, Reynolds and Mac Reynolds are combining their love for gaming with their creative talents, aiming to offer a fresh take on the CTF genre. As the gaming community anticipates the game’s release, it will be interesting to see how the Reynolds brothers’ vision translates into the gaming world.
