The much anticipated appointment of Mohamed Nasreddine Nabi as head coach of the men’s senior team has been confirmed by Kaizer Chiefs. A two-year contract with a one-year extension option has been agreed upon by the two sides. “It gives us great pleasure to finally welcome our new head coach to Kaizer Chiefs after what has been a fairly exhaustive vetting process,” said Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. We welcome coach Nabi and his technical staff with the promise of cooperation and support as we work toward our shared objective. We think we have found the ideal guy to realize our ambition of returning Amakhosi to its proper position at the top of the football pyramid.

Arriving at Amakhosi with a lot of experience, the well-respected Tunisian-born Nabi has coached elite teams in Libya, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, Tanzania, and, more recently, Morocco. Over the years, he has competed in African Club events with distinction and received awards in other nations. The coach has won the CAF Confederation Cup with FC Leopards in Congo, among other honors.

With a UEFA Pro coaching license in hand, the 58-year-old introduces a new technical support staff made up of seasoned experts who have worked with elite teams in Africa and other continents.

first assistant coach. He most recently worked with coach Nabi at AS Far, where they qualified for the CAF Champions division after placing second in the Moroccan division. When Young Africans in Tanzania won consecutive trebles, he worked with Nabi. He will collaborate closely with Fernando Da Cruz, the second assistant, and coaches Nabi.

The second assistant coach. Coach Cruz is licensed as a UEFA Pro, much like manager Nabi. Da Cruz, who was born in France, has previously had positions as a youth coach, technical director, coach, and scout in Belgium, France, and Morocco.

coach for goalkeeping. He has worked with several teams in the Middle East and Africa, giving him a wealth of expertise. Additionally, he served as the Mauritanian national team’s goalie coach. He has held positions in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Libya in addition to working for the Tunisian football team Esperance de Tunis. After working with Majdi Safi and Khalil Ben Youssef at Stade Tunisien for the 2019–20 season, Mzoughi reunites with them.

When Tunisia won the league in 2022–2023, he was a member of Etoile du Sahel. In Morocco, he also played for Wydad Athletic and Raja Casablanca.

The new technical staff has jumped right in and is presently conducting the pre-season training camp in Turkey. There, they are evaluating the overall health of the playing squad and coming up with plans to move the team forward. Coach Nabi and his technical staff are invited to Amakhosi. We hope for a much better 2024–2025 season and wish them the best.
