It is predicted that the Lions will cut the new player before he ever steps onto the field.

Sadly, the Detroit Lions will have to let go of several players in order to make some significant selections before the 2025–26 season officially begins in September. It’s difficult to say goodbye to longtime players, but it’s equally difficult to say goodbye to new players who hoped to play a key role in the squad. Any NFL player would be delighted to sign with the Lions, who are currently regarded as genuine contenders and one of the league’s most promising teams. However, a recent addition may be released before he has even had an opportunity to play for the Lions.

One player who is being signaled out is among the players the Detroit Lions must cut as they finalize their lineup for the next campaign.

In an attempt to increase depth at cornerback, a position that is undoubtedly important to Detroit, the Lions signed Rock Ya-Sin back in March of this year. He mostly played on special teams during his 13 games with the San Francisco 49ers last season. The Indianapolis Colts selected Ya-Sin in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Chris Schad argues that the “upside hasn’t presented itself since he made the jump to the NFL” in an article published on Saturday, June 28 for Detroit Jock City. The cornerback “spent three seasons with the Colts and was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. He has bounced around to the Baltimore Ravens and then the 49ers last season for the remainder of his career,” Schad continues. Schad also points out that Ya-Sin is at the bottom of the Detroit Lions’ depth chart.

Christian Booher of SI announced his 53-man roster earlier this month in advance of training camp, designating Terrion Arnold, Reed, Ennis Rakestraw, Robertson, and Khalil Dorsey as the team’s five corners. Thus, the future of this new Lions player does not appear bright.

In the article, Schad said, “There’s a chance Ya-Sin could change the narrative with a strong camp.” But with so many obstacles in his way, he might not get the chance. Ya-Sin might have to hunt for a new position and start a new chapter in her unsatisfactory career.

According to PFF, the Lions have the second-best linebackers in the NFL. According to an article published on June 25, Dalton Wasserman claims that the linebackers from the Philadelphia Eagles are superior to Detroit’s lineup, which includes Alex Anzalone, Jack Campbell, and Malcolm Rodriguez.

“Jack Campbell, a former 18th-overall pick, has started to establish himself as one of the NFL’s top linebackers,” he writes in the article. He was one of just five qualifiers to receive at least a 74.0 PFF grade in run defense and coverage in 2024, with his 78.7 PFF overall score placing him in 10th place.
