Yang, brother of ex-Duterte adviser Michael Yang, arrested

YangYang was arrested over alleged falsification of public documents, perjury, and violation of the law on the use of aliases

(PAOCC) said on Thursday, July 10.

PAOCC said in a press statement that Yang was arrested on Wednesday night, July 9, at the PAOCC Temporary Custodial Facility in Pasay City. He will be in the custody of Pasay police pending posting of bail.

 

“Once released, he will be transferred to the Bureau of Immigration for proceedings related to his immigration offenses,” PAOCC said.

 

PAOCC said that the arrest “is a crucial win in the government’s continuing campaign against identity manipulation and corporate fraud.”

 

“This arrest is more than just the capture of an individual; it’s about holding people accountable, no matter how deep their ties or how many names they use. We are determined to protect the integrity of our systems and institutions from those who abuse them,” said PAOCC Executive Director Gilberto DC Cruz. 

 

Judge Eleuteria Apdian Badoles-Algodon of the Municipal Trial Court Branch 2 of Cagayan de Oro City issued the warrant for Yang’s arrest on November 22, 2024.

 

On September 19, 2024, Yang was first intercepted and arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 for administrative violations of immigration laws.

 

“Using the name Antonio Maestrado Lim, Yang reportedly set up at least 12 companies across Cebu, Davao, and Cagayan de Oro, including malls, rice mills, and a steel plant,” PAOCC said.

 

During his 2024 arrest at NAIA, authorities found Yang in possession of “falsified IDs, firearm licenses, nearly ₱1.4 million in cash, and other contraband items.”

 

“Further investigation revealed that Yang’s methods mirrored those of Guo Hua Ping, also known as Alice Guo, the former mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, who was likewise linked to falsified or questionable civil documents,” PAOCC said.
