With the 2025 NFL season rapidly approaching, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs will shortly begin their retaliation tour.

The Chiefs made another trip to the Super Bowl last season. In the last game, the Philadelphia Eagles stopped them from completing a three-peat. Kansas City is eager to return to the field after reflecting on that defeat over the offseason. This offseason, Mahomes has been locked in. Although he hasn’t spoken much, his attitude is evident given that training camp begins this month.

It has consistently been a “championship or bust” mentality. But he needs to prove something this season. Mahomes has had a bad taste in his mouth for months since he was unhappy with way the 2024 season ended. In retrospect, Mahomes participated in 16 regular season games in 2024. In addition to running for 307 yards and two more touchdowns, he completed 67.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,928 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.

Mahomes completed 66.3% of his passes for 679 yards, five touchdowns, and two touchdowns in three games throughout the postseason. In addition, he gained 82 yards and ran for two more scores. The Chiefs appear to be a Super Bowl contender once more from the outside. Kansas City should be the favorite until they are defeated in the playoffs by an AFC team.

Additionally, the Chiefs will continue to be a top-tier Super Bowl candidate at the start of the season as long as Mahomes remains in the starting lineup. Worthy’s remarks serve as a stark warning to the NFL as a whole. Opposing defenses should be alarmed if Mahomes is starting the season in a different mindset and continues to play that way all year long. This year, Mahomes has unresolved matters to attend to. What kind of season the 29-year-old future Hall of Famer has in store will be intriguing to watch. It sounds like he’s more locked in today than he has been in previous years.
