Three “most talented” tennis players who have never won a grand slam have been named by John McEnroe.

The tennis world will have its eyes glued to Wimbledon on Sunday as Jannik Sinner will take on Carlos Alcaraz just one month after their epic five-set thriller at the French Open in Paris. Both these stars have separated themselves from the rest of the field and are set for another instalment in their budding rivalry.

Alcaraz currently leads the head-to-head battle 9-4 and has defeated Sinner in their last five encounters. However, Sinner is the best player in the world and is in tremendous form. He took care of the legendary Novak Djokovic in the semi-final in straight sets and dominated his field en route to his first Wimbledon final. Alcaraz, on the other hand, is the two-time defending champion and also took home his second French Open title last month against the Italian.

Winning a Grand Slam is difficult (unless you’re Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, or Djokovic) and a lot of talented players end their careers without even getting a chance to compete for a major title. Alcaraz and Sinner have already won multiple major championships and are expected to add more to their collection. However, several athletes retired without winning a Grand Slam and former Wimbledon champion, John McEnroe, spoke about some of the best players to never win a Slam..The seven-time Grand Slam champion talked about Gael Monfils, Nick Kyrgios, and Alexander Zverev as the three most talented players to not win a Grand Slam title during an interview in January this year.

“To me, he’s one of the three most talented guys never to win a major him,” McEnroe said after Monfils defeated Taylor Fritz in the third round of the Australian Open this year.
