GOOD NEWS: Steelers Lands Alex Highsmith Replacement

The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought back former Denver Broncos pass rusher Marcus Haynes after Alex Highsmith sustained a groin injury that is expected to sideline him for two to three weeks. Haynes will assist on the scout team, while the Steelers may consider promoting someone like Ade Ogundeji to strengthen the outside linebacker rotation.

DeMarvin Leal and Nick Herbig are expected to see a significant increase in playing time alongside T.J. Watt. Ogundeji or Haynes, who can contribute on special teams, may be candidates for a practice squad elevation in the coming weeks.

Haynes, an undrafted free agent from Old Dominion in the 2023 NFL Draft, originally joined the Steelers toward the end of training camp. Since entering the league, he has had brief stints with the Denver Broncos, Houston Texans, and Cleveland Browns.

With Haynes joining the practice squad, the Steelers still have one available spot, which they are likely to fill with a player at another position tomorrow.
