The Phillies are in an excellent position to make a push for the World Series, which they last reached in 2022. This is the focus of Phillies owner John Middleton, who emphasized his desire for a championship as the team celebrated their postseason berth after Monday’s game.
During the locker room celebration, manager Rob Thomson put his arm around Middleton and reminded the players that in spring training, the owner had expressed his desire to reclaim the championship trophy. Middleton then chimed in, saying, “I want my f—— trophy back!”
In 1994, Middleton acquired his first Phillies ownership. Since he’s been involved, they’ve gone to three World Series, winning one in 2008.
