BREAKING: Tech coach Brent Pry gives two huge unexpected injury updates

As they prepare to visit Stanford this weekend, the injury news that Brent Pry revealed on Wednesday produced a mixed bag of results.

Virginia Tech is preparing for their first-ever ACC clash against Stanford, traveling west to take on the Cardinal this Saturday. This will be just the second meeting between the two programs, the first being the Orange Bowl 13 years ago. As the Hokies gear up for the game, head coach Brent Pry provided key injury updates following Wednesday’s practice, with mixed news regarding some critical players on the offensive side.

Center Braelin Moore, who was injured early in last week’s game against Miami, took all of his reps in practice, a promising sign for Virginia Tech’s offensive line. His return would allow the Hokies to return to their typical configuration up front, a crucial factor as they face Stanford’s stout defensive line. However, Pry also mentioned that Montavious Cunningham could see some time in the event Moore isn’t fully ready.

The news regarding wide receiver Ali Jennings is less optimistic. Pry stated that Jennings’ recovery has been slower than hoped, and his status remains a game-time decision. Jennings, a key piece of the offense when healthy, made an early impact this season with a touchdown against Vanderbilt but has struggled with injuries, much like last season when his year was cut short after Week 2.

On the defensive side, Alabama transfer Khurtiss Perry is moving up the depth chart at defensive tackle after Kemari Copeland announced his season-ending injury, suffered two weeks ago against Rutgers. Pry also indicated that freshman Emmett Laws could see an expanded role as they adjust to Copeland’s absence.

With the injury situation in flux, Virginia Tech will be hoping for key contributions as they aim to get back on track against Stanford in this important ACC matchup.
